Born in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Currently based in Cape Town, the most beautiful city in the world.

Specializing in 6 and 12 string bass and prefer fretless instruments.

As a professional bass player Alistair performed with international greats such as Phil Driscol, Efrain Toro, Alvin Dyers, Denver Furness, Winston Mankunku, Errol Dyers, Merton Barrow, Richard Schilder, Robbie Jansen, Harold Jephta and may others.

He is also involved at one of Africa's top Jazz, Classical and African music programs at The University of Cape Town.

Recently got involved with a new project called the Kalahari Connection.

Has been working with legendary guitarist Alvin Dyers's Trio, featuring Denver Furness on drums for many years.

 

About The Music

Personally love most styles of music. Favorite styles: World-music, African and Jazz.

Released an Album "Your Unconditional Love " in 2000. This album was dedicated to God.

Last Album is entitled "Rainbow Music". South Africa has such a lot of different cultures. That is why South Africans are called the Rainbow Nation. The music is the sum of all Alistair's influences.

The solo album he is currently working on will be called "Let There Be Bass!!!"

Every Monday after 9:00 PM LOUNGE-021 in Wetton, Cape Town comes alive with the Swingers Jazz Jam. People from all over the world come to experience the cream of the crop of South Africa's Pro and up and coming musicians. International greats such as Joe Sample, Avishai Cohen, Mezaforte, Hubert Laws and pop artists Jonathan Butler and Craig David also made appearances at Swingers on a Monday. It is the hippest place to be on a Monday evening.
